چکیده
The COupled Snowpack and Ice surface energy mass balance model in PYthon (COSIPY) was employed to investigate the relationship between variability sensitivity of record Halji glacier, Himalayas, north-western Nepal, over a 40 year period since October 1981 atmospheric drivers. COSIPY forced with reanalysis dataset ERA5-Land that has been statistically downscaled location an automatic weather station at glacier. Glacier simulations air temperature precipitation perturbations were executed teleconnections investigated. For mass-balance years 1982 2019, mean annual glacier-wide climatic −0.48 meters water equivalent per (m w.e. a−1) large interannual (standard deviation 0.71 m simulated. This is dominated by patterns. glacier mostly sensitive summer monsoon-related perturbations, which reflected strong correlation albedo. According simulations, climate respect either positive or negative changes nonlinear: A increase (decrease) 1 K would result change −1.43 a−1 (0.99m while 10% cause 0.45m (−0.59m a−1). Out 22 circulation monsoon indexes, only Webster Yang Monsoon index Polar/Eurasia provide significant correlations balance. Based on dependency from season conditions, we conclude snow–albedo feedback crucial for finding also albedo index.

South Cascade Glacier mass balance , 1935 – 2006
A simple model uses daily observations of precipitation and temperature at a nearby weather station to estimate glacier-average seasonal mass-balance components at South Cascade Glacier, Washington, USA, from 1935, 24 years before measurements began at the glacier. This is 13 years earlier than measurements that can be derived using the NCEP–NCAR reanalysis database (begins 1 January 1948). Alt...
متن کاملAnnual Mass Balance of Blue Glacier, USA: 1955-97
Mass changes of Blue Glacier, USA are calculated from topographic maps made from vertical aerial photography in late summer of 1939, 1952, 1957, and 1987, along with laser altimetry flown in June 1996. Changes in elevation between maps were adjusted for seasonal variations in the snow cover, and to account for the ablation between the date of photography and 1 October. Topography obtained from ...
متن کاملA time constant for hemispheric glacier mass balance
The notion is developed of a mass-balance time constant applicable to the Northern Hemispheric glacier inventory taken as a whole. Ice dynamics are incorporated only implicitly in its estimation, which follows directly from a consideration of observed mass-balance and hemispheric temperature time series. While such a parameter must certainly be related to the rate at which glacier hypsometry ad...
متن کاملLinking glacier annual mass balance and glacier albedo retrieved from MODIS data
Albedo is one of the variables controlling the mass balance of temperate glaciers. Multispectral imagers, such as MODerate Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the TERRA and AQUA satellites, provide a means to monitor glacier surface albedo. In this study, different methods to retrieve broadband glacier surface albedo from MODIS data are compared. The effect of multiple reflections due to...
متن کاملAnalysis of Glacier Mass Balance and Rheology at Kekesayi Glacier Using Hexagon Kh-9, Alos-prism and Sar Data
Scanned stereoscopic spying photography of a Hexagon KH-9 mission in 1973 as well as high resolution stereo imagery of ALOS-PRISM from 2009 was used to generate multi-temporal Digital Terrain Models for the estimation of glacier thickness changes of Kekesayi glacier situated at the Mustag Ata massif at the northwestern end of the Tibetan Plateau. Glacier surface velocities were estimated by amp...
